Why stewardship?

Stewardship is a way of life, a means of thanking God for all his blessings by returning a portion of the time, talent and treasure alloted to us.

Stewardship involves how we live and how we give. It means taking care of ourselves, of God's creation and of our financial resources.

Stewardship is fundamental to Christian discipleship. That is why we created this section of our website, to offer suggestions and point the way toward a more blessed life - for ourselves, our families and our community.

What mission means to us

The 2011 mission trip to New Orleans involved 22 parishioners, about 15% of our average Sunday crowd -- plus their families and the many parishioners who supported them. It was truly a parish effort that resulted in the completion or near completion of three homes.

Each home had a unique story: one woman's son was murdered while trying to restore her home after Hurricane Katrina. Another was repeatedly ripped off by contractors and her own daughter.

When Jesus said, "Go therefore and make disciples of all nations," he was not talking about the people we already know and are comfortable with. We saw some gritty and wordly places in New Orleans, but also simple joy and neighborliness. We were blessed to be able to serve our neighbors.

Watch "Here We Are, Lord," the account of our 2011 mission trip to New Orleans.

Telling our faith stories

Everyone sitting in a pew has a story to tell. Their faith story. What drew them to Christ Church, why they stayed, what they treasure about their faith family. For our 2011-12 stewardship campaign we interviewed a diverse group of parishioners and asked them what was special about Christ Church.
